Diary 5: A Productive Day Balancing Classes and Friendships

On Wednesday, October 2, 2024, I started the day by waking up at 3 AM for suhoor. The night before, I had ordered food through the GoFood app to eat during suhoor. Since I planned to observe a voluntary fast, I made sure to eat enough to sustain myself throughout the day. After finishing my meal, I took a moment to relax before taking a shower and preparing for my morning routine. Before I knew it, it was time for Fajr, so I made ablution and performed the Fajr prayer with full concentration.

After praying, I planned to check the pending assignments and note down some lecture material I hadn’t had a chance to write during class. That morning felt peaceful, filled with the academic tasks that demanded focus and productivity. However, not long after I began taking notes, I unexpectedly got my period. As a result, I had to cancel my fast. Though slightly disappointed, I resolved to continue the day with the same enthusiasm.

At 8 AM, I decided to get ready for campus. I used the online ride-hailing app to order transportation since the distance from my boarding house to campus was quite far. Upon arriving at campus, I met my friends in front of the lecture building. We chatted briefly about various things, including class plans and assignments that needed to be completed. The clock struck 8:30, and we all began preparing to head to our scheduled class. My first lecture started at 8:40.

The first class went smoothly, although I felt a bit tired from waking up early for suhoor. After the lecture, some friends and I decided to head to the campus food court for lunch. Initially, I had planned to continue fasting, but given the circumstances, I joined them for lunch. We enjoyed our meal while chatting and laughing, making the moment even more enjoyable before moving on to the next activity.

After lunch, we headed to the discussion room to continue working on our assignments together. The atmosphere in the room was conducive to working, although we occasionally had light conversations and jokes to keep things relaxed. Time flew by, and suddenly, it was already 12:50 PM, time for us to head to our second class of the day.

Once the second class ended, we returned to the discussion room to finish up the remaining assignments. As time passed, we began to feel hungry again, so we decided to order "seblak" through the GoFood app. While waiting for our order to arrive, we continued working on assignments and shared some interesting stories. When the "seblak" arrived, we quickly grabbed it and decided to eat together outside the discussion room. The moment was filled with laughter and jokes before we eventually headed back to our respective places. Once I got back to my boarding house, I freshened up and ordered food again through GoFood, then continued working on my assignments until late at night, feeling satisfied with how productive the day had been.
