Diary 4: Mathventure Uniom 2024 A Day of Excitement and New Connections


On Saturday, September 28, 2024, the Mathventure event, a moment I had been eagerly anticipating, finally took place. For days leading up to it, my excitement had been growing significantly in anticipation of this event. Mathventure Uniom 2024 is an important opportunity for us, the new students, to get to know university life better, meet new friends, and interact directly with seniors and lecturers. This time, the Mathventure Uniom 2024 event felt special because, unlike the previous week where most activities were held online or in a limited format, today’s event was held offline at the multipurpose hall of Universitas Negeri Surabaya, and all new students were required to attend. I was extremely excited and didn’t want to miss a single moment.

Early in the morning, I woke up to prepare. I didn’t want to leave anything out, so I neatly organized all the necessary items mentioned by the committee, from the appropriate attire, personal identification, to additional supplies that might be needed. I tried not to rush at the last minute, ensuring everything was perfectly ready. Once everything was set, I headed out to pick up my friend, whose boarding house wasn’t far from mine. Coincidentally, my friend and I were in the same group for this event, so we decided to go together.

Throughout the journey to campus, we chatted about the event preparations and other things that made us even more excited. We shared our hopes and expectations for the activities ahead. Before we knew it, we had arrived in front of the multipurpose hall. The area around the hall was already bustling with the arrival of other new students, and excitement was evident on everyone’s faces. Gradually, one by one, the members of our group started to arrive. Once everyone was present, we followed the committee’s instructions to enter the multipurpose hall.

Inside the hall, the event kicked off with great enthusiasm. The lineup of activities was so engaging that my friends and I couldn’t contain our excitement. There was a fun paper mob session, various games that required group cooperation, and a singing session that lifted everyone’s spirits. Each activity provided an opportunity for us to get to know each other better and strengthen our bond as fellow freshmen. Additionally, there were moments where important information was delivered by the committee, broadening our understanding of campus life and university studies.

During the break, my friend and I decided to have a meal outside the hall. We enjoyed the break while chatting about the fun we had so far. The atmosphere outside the hall was lively, with many other freshmen gathered around. After eating, we took some time to pray at the nearby prayer room on campus. Once we finished praying, we returned to the hall to continue the event. The rest of the activities went smoothly and were filled with joy, as we all laughed together and enjoyed every activity organized by the committee.

When the event ended, although my body felt a bit tired, my heart was full of satisfaction and happiness. This event provided many valuable new experiences and memorable moments that I will always cherish. My friend and I walked home together, chatting about our feelings throughout the event, the fun we had, and our hopes for the upcoming university life. Once I got back to my boarding house, I went straight to rest, recharging for the activities the next day. Today was one of the unforgettable experiences during my early days as a university student, and I’m very grateful to have experienced it with my new friends.

Diary 1: First Day of University Embracing New Beginnings and Building Connections

On Monday, September 2, 2024, I experienced one of the most memorable moments of my life: my first day as a university student. Since morning, a mixture of nervousness and excitement filled me. I tried to prepare everything as best as I could for my first online class. After ensuring that my laptop was ready, I immediately opened the UNESA SSO and accessed the Zoom link for my first class. As the minutes ticked down to the start of the lecture, I felt a bit tense, but once the class began, everything went smoothly.
